IFS Therapy for Eating Disorders
IFS Therapy for Eating Disorders
If you are struggling with food restriction, purging, compulsive exercise, body shame, or eating that feels out of control, you do not have to do struggle alone.
Whether you are new to therapy or looking for a different approach, I provide a compassionate presence if you are challenged with any of the following:
Chronic or yo-yo dieting
Anorexia nervosa
Bulimia nervosa
Binge eating
ARFID
Body images concerns and shame
Exercise urges
I also provide care for co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and addictive processes, including substance abuse.
How an IFS Therapist Can Help
If you’re here, my guess is have parts that dislike your eating or exercise habits and parts that are afraid of letting go. You may also have parts that are tired of the fight between control and freedom and just want to feel more peace.
As an IFS eating disorder therapist, I guide you in getting to know all of your parts.
At a pace that feels safe for you, we begin the journey of learning what these parts worry about, how they are trying to help you move through life, and what they are protecting.
In the process of befriending your parts, the healing begins.
Weight-Inclusive Approach
As a weight-inclusive provider, I believe every body is worthy of respect and respectful care regardless of size.
I do not tell people what to do with their bodies, nor do I judge people for pursuing or desiring body changes.
IFS will give you a deeper understanding of the parts of you that want to change your body and parts that may want more gentleness and freedom.
Working as a Team
Eating disorders require a team approach.
I work alongside psychiatrists and IFS dietitians, and can provide referrals to trusted colleagues.
If you already have a team in place, I am happy to collaborate with them.
